Taketomi
IN The middle of November I went to the Ryukyu Islands in the Okinawa prefecture, Japan. I will tell you from the trip and the several islands I visited in the upcoming weeks, starting today with Taketomi.

The small island Taketomi is located right next to Ishigaki, you can reach the island using a ferry in about 15 minutes. It’s only 5.4 km² so you can walk or discover the island using a bike (it’s possible to rent one) if you like. There is a small village in the middle of the island and a beach located in the west.

Goats

Before you reach the village or the beach you encounter some goats ;). I created the following photos using my new Fuji X-T10 with the XF-23mm F1.4 lens – a great combination that I enjoyed a lot during the trip.

Beach

There are several places at the coast where you can refresh yourself in the water – highly recommended after walking the islands while having about 28 degrees. It’s also possible to use other means of transportation in certain parts of the island:

Now to some impressions from the beach area. the sky was highly dramatic on that day, creating a nice contrast to the sunny weather and high temperatures. I used the M.Zuiko 60mm Macro and the M.Zuiko 8mm Fisheye in addition for some close up shots and the wide angle landscapes.

I hope you enjoyed this short trip to Taketomi – I will be back soon with more impressions from the Ryukyu Islands!
